Ireby Church of England School provides superb opportunities for children to develop their physical skills and knowledge across a wide variety of activities. Physical education is led by a teacher who is a dedicated sports enthusiast with a wealth of experience who has herself represented her country in rugby league. Throughout the summer months, children learn to swim, climb and sail - all as part of their games lessons. Our minibus gives us access to a great range of sports - and we love to get our children out there!

Swimming

Each child is given the opportunity to learn to swim competently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres, use a range of strokes effectively and perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations. We also enjoy many water related activities throughout the summer months.

Competitive Sport

At Ireby, we give our children the opportunity to take part in a range of competitive sports throughout the year. Working in partnership with a group of keswick small schools, we enjoy competing in athletics, cross-country and netball tournaments to name but a few.
