How we develop our children's personal development is outlined in our Personal Development policy below.
In line with Ofsted’s recommendations, there are 6 strands of Personal Development that we at Ireby School aim to promote:
- developing responsible, respectful and active citizens;
- promoting equality of opportunity;
- promoting an inclusive environment;
- developing pupils’ character, giving them qualities they need to flourish in society;
- developing pupils’ confidence and resilience so that they can keep themselves mentally healthy;
- preparing pupils for the next phase of education.
Our policy prepares our pupils for life in modern Britain by upholding our five 'Fundamental British Values' as defined by our government:
- Democracy
- Rule of Law
- Respect & Tolerance
- Individual Liberty
These fundamental British Values underpin what it is to be a citizen in a modern and diverse Great Britain valuing our community and celebrating diversity of the UK.
Fundamental British Values are not exclusive to being British and are shared by other democratic countries as a way of creating an orderly society, where individual members can feel safe, valued and can contribute for the good of themselves and others.
These values are echo our Christian vision, 'Created to do Good' Ephesians 2:10, which underpin all our work.
